Fast auto/manual focus-switching
If you have to remove your eye from the viewfinder to switch between auto and manual focus, you’re likely to lose the shot. With this lens the focus ring, where your hand normally rests while shooting, simply slides back and forth to switch between manual and auto focus. A non-slip surface ensures reliable operation.
Focus lock where you need it most
Pressing the focus hold button, conveniently located on the lens barrel, instantly locks focus at the current setting and keeps it there until the button is released. The focus hold button can be used to lock focus even when shooting in the continuous AF mode.
Select your focus range for faster AF
The Focus Range Limiter selector can be set for near and/or far focusing, depending on the subject, limiting focusing range and thereby maximizing autofocus speed. Selections are ∞ ~ 0.5 meters for distant focusing, 0.5 ~ 0.28 meters for close focusing, and FULL for full-range focusing.
Inner focus for better handling
In an inner-focus design, only internal lens elements move when focusing, so the total length of the lens does not change. In addition to making handing easier, that means faster autofocus and shorter minimum focusing distance. The filter thread at the front of the lens does not rotate, which is an advantage when using a polarizing filter.
Get close while keeping your distance
The medium telephoto focal length of this lens gives it an ideal working distance at macro magnifications, making it easier to capture impressive macro images of insects and other subjects that cannot be approached too closely.

With a length of 209.6mm (8.3 in) and maximum diameter of 93mm, the 150-500mm F5-6.7 is astonishingly compact for a 500mm-class ultra-telephoto zoom lens built for use on full-frame mirrorless cameras. Even when extended to the 500mm telephoto end, the lens has a suppressed length of around 283mm (11.1 in). Another distinctive feature is that the arc of rotation of the zoom ring is small—only 75°—which enables swift adjustment to the desired focal length with minimal movement.
In addition to covering a broad range of focal lengths, the 150-500mm F5-6.7 zoom has high resolving power with excellent image-rendering performance across the entire zoom range. The optical construction features 25 elements in 16 groups. The effective placement of special lens elements—including XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion) and hybrid aspherical lens elements—enables the 150-500mm F5-6.7 to produce clear images while controlling chromatic aberrations. BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating is used to suppress ghosting and flare, which commonly occur under backlit conditions. The 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046) is a large aperture ultra wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount that was designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras and provides unrivalled portability and superb image quality. It’s the smallest and lightest weight zoom lens in its class. The dramatic 17-28mm zoom range adds new dimensions to photographing landscapes, cityscapes, mountains and scenic vistas—as well as groups and building interiors. Despite its compact size, it offers outstanding optical performance. Strategically deployed LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens elements thoroughly suppress chromatic aberration. The combination of ultra wide-angle focal length and an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.19m (7.5 in) at the wide-angle end encourages richly expressive and creative photography. The new 17-28mm zoom’s AF drive system is powered by the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit that enables it to deliver high-speed, high-precision operation. In addition, the new zoom lens features Moisture-Resistant Construction and a hydrophobic Fluorine Coating that repels fingerprints and dirt. This compact but powerful tool will boost your mobility and drive your vision of capturing subjects in new ways.
Tamron makes large aperture ultra wide-angle photography more exciting, and for this lens we focused on usability. The 17-28mm zoom range was carefully selected; that paved the way for a surprisingly small size—just 99mm (3.9 in) long, weighing but 420g (14.8 oz). The overall length of the lens does not change during zooming, thereby offering consistent handling and stable shooting operations. In addition, the Φ67mm filter size is small for a large aperture ultra wide-angle zoom lens. Plus, it shares the same filter diameter as the high-speed standard zoom lens in the series, the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036). This means the same filters such as PL (Polarizer), lens caps and other accessories may be used for both models.
The 17-28mm zoom provides magnificent image quality without compromise despite its compactness. Two LD lens elements and one XLD element (which has properties close to fluorite) are precisely located to quash chromatic and other aberrations. In addition, the BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating applied to lens surfaces reduces ghosting and flare that are otherwise likely to occur when shooting against the sunset’s glow and other backlit situations. Leveraging camera functions*, it provides excellent optical performance matching the latest high resolution image sensors from edge-to-edge throughout the entire zoom range. The 17-28mm zoom invites you into the breathtaking world of ultra wide-angle photography.

The 17-28mm zoom features an MOD of 0.19m (7.5 in) at the wide 17mm end, rendering a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.2. At the tele end, the MOD is 0.26m (10.2 in) and the maximum magnification ratio is 1:6. In short, you can easily get close enough for a powerful shot. Your images can emphasize the perspective unique to ultra wide-angle lenses, and you can produce soft expressions with a shallow depth of field distinctive to large aperture lenses by opening the aperture and getting close to the subject. Versatile, functional and sensational—all at the same time.
The AF drive on the 17-28mm zoom includes an RXD motor unit to help you stay focused on the action. RXD uses an actuator to precisely control the rotational angle of the motor, allowing it to directly drive the focusing lens without passing through a reduction gear. A sensor that accurately detects the position of the lens enables high-speed and precise AF, which is ideal when shooting continually moving subjects or recording video. Perfect for street shooting and grab shots of groups of friends. The lens is the successor to the popular 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036), the lens that flipped conventional thinking about standard zoom lenses upside down.
High definition and spectacular image quality are the key areas of advancements. The Model A063 features a redesigned optical system but maintains a size similar to its predecessor. The lens provides exceptionally good optical performance, edge-to-edge across the frame, throughout the entire zoom range, along with the soft, beautiful bokeh effects that are distinctive to fast-aperture lenses.
The AF drive is equipped with TAMRON’s linear motor focus mechanism VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) to enable high speed, high precision auto-focusing. Closeup shooting capabilities have also been improved and achieve an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.18m (7.1 in) at the 28mm wide end, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7.
The exciting 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is equipped with new, groundbreaking features that enable users to easily perform customization and firmware updates themselves. For example, users can reverse the direction of the focus ring during manual focus.
Additionally, TAMRON has adopted a new design with improved ergonomics and revised the coating of the lens exterior to improve scratch resistance. The filter size is 67mm, which is standard among TAMRON's fast-aperture zoom lens series and enables the sharing of lens caps, filters, and other accessories.
In addition to features such as Moisture-Resistant Construction and a protective Fluorine Coating, the lens supports various features built into Sony E-mount cameras, including Fast Hybrid AF, Eye AF and in-camera lens corrections (shading, chromatic aberration, distortion).

With the goal of producing outstanding high image quality befitting a new fast-aperture zoom lens, TAMRON redesigned the optical design in the new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 from scratch. The optical construction of the Model A063 deploys 17 elements in 15 groups. To minimize optical aberrations to an extreme degree, two LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements are used in an optimal arrangement. The lens demonstrates high resolving power to the edges of the frame at all focal lengths, while also offering the soft and beautiful bokeh that is distinctive to fast-aperture lenses. The image quality shows marked improvements over the 1st-generation Model A036. The 28-75mm F2.8 G2 retains the same light weight and compact size while achieving significant improvements to resolution and overall performance across the entire zoom range. The new standard zoom is ideal for a wide range of photographic genres from street photography and portraiture to landscapes and general family events like vacations and holidays.
Capture all the action with high-speed, high-precision AF
The AF drive system is equipped with VXD linear motor focus mechanism. VXD is exceptionally responsive and operates at high speed with great precision. The AF speed marks approximately twice1 as fast as the 1st-generation Model A036. With reliable, speedy focusing from the MOD to infinity and extremely good focus tracking, you are ready for those important moments even when photographing fast-moving subjects. Moreover, the AF drive motor is very quiet, making it ideal for still photography and videography when shooting in conditions where near-silence is required.

Close focusing has also been improved. The MOD of the 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is 0.18m (7.1 in) at the wide 28mm end, an improvement over the 1st-generation Model A036. This allows photographers to capture powerful shots that emphasize the perspective effects unique to wide-angle photography when shooting close-ups. The working distance becomes about 4.4cm (1.7 in) at the MOD. The maximum magnification ratio is 1:2.7. Get closer to any subject and enjoy the world of wide macro photography. In addition, at the telephoto end the MOD is 0.38m (15 in). The magnification ratio when using the longer 75mm focal length is 1:4.1, enabling close-up shooting with greater working distance.
Proprietary software tool TAMRON Lens Utility™ for lens function customization
The 2nd-generation Model A063 incorporates the new ‘TAMRON Lens Utility’ software originally and uniquely developed by TAMRON. TAMRON Lens Utility can be operated using a computer by connecting the lens from its Connector Port via the optional TAMRON Connection Cable2. Users can customize the functions and update the firmware through the lens. The new 35-150mm F2-2.8 boasts the ability to take closeup photographs extremely close to the subject. At the 35mm wide-angle end, the MOD is 0.33m (13 in), achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.7. The 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 zoom’s optical design was refined via thorough simulations utilizing the latest technologies. With high priority on reduced size and weight, Tamron selected the aperture of F6.3 for the telephoto end to achieve a slim lens barrel and outstanding lightness. Taking the weight savings even further, we used a specially treated, high-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy3, the first time Tamron has used this material in the mount components of a lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. The new design maintains excellent strength while successfully reducing weight to around 68% of previous mounts. The lens is made up of 15 elements in 10 groups with an appropriate arrangement of LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements. Eliminating waste to the extreme degree, Tamron reduced weight while still achieving very high image quality in the 70-300mm F4.5-6.3. Aberrations such as axial chromatic aberration (which tends to occur in telephoto lens designs) have been well corrected. The 300mm end, which receives particularly frequent use in a telephoto zoom, provides excellent high-resolution performance from the center of the image all the way to the corners. Stunning bokeh (intentional background blur qualities) are another remarkable feature of this new lens. Subjects are accentuated against the beautifully soft bokeh effects in the background. To suppress ghosting and flare, the lens uses Tamron's BBAR (Broad-Brand Anti-Reflection) Coating, which is renowned for its anti-reflection performance. In addition, the actuation of the lens correction features built into Sony cameras lets users enjoy enhanced performance and functions.

Richly saturated and vivid colours are a must in the creation of lasting impressions. However, stray light within an optical system leads to a lightening of the image that is particularly noticeable in the shadows. This reduces image contrast, with the result that exposures lack contrast and appear faded. To avoid this, ZEISS combines various specially developed technologies to reduce the undesirable effects of stray light.

One completely new feature of the Loxia lens is that you can ‘declick’ the aperture’s locking mechanism using a tool (supplied) and an adjustment screw on the bayonet surface. This feature can also be used with other video systems whose size makes them suitable for adaption.

Ideal aperture characteristics
Photographers want to lead the viewer through their images. Planes with minimum depth of focus are often employed as creative elements. For instance, the background is kept intentionally out of focus to lead the viewer’s eye to the actual subject of the image. The Touit lenses feature a nine-blade iris that closes to create an almost perfectly circular aperture. The effect of this is the creation of a particularly harmonious effect in the out of focus areas of the image (‘Bokeh’).

ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating
The optical elements of ZEISS lenses feature T*® anti-reflective coating on all surfaces and an optical design that guarantees images of superior brilliance at all times, even in unfavourable lighting conditions. We apply the anti-reflective coating to the lens surfaces by the vapour deposition of extremely thin, transparent layers on the glass. In this process, special substances are vaporized with extremely high energy in a high-vacuum environment and are subsequently deposited on the glass surfaces, one after another, as layers with precisely controlled thicknesses to achieve the desired reduction of reflective properties. The first coating techniques were employed by ZEISS as long ago as in the 1930s.

Excellent resolution and high contrast
